The Prisoner and the Bomb.
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (January, 1971)
Average review score:

My "MOST IMPORTANT BOOK"-all informed persons should read. The author was a Japanese Prisoner of War in present day Indonesia. On the anniversary of the droping of the first atom bomb, by chance, he appears at a television interview of a Japanese physician who lost his family in Hiroshima and the interview covers the familiar ground of the intense suffering caused by the atom bombs. The author realizes that there is an untold aspect of the story that, as great as the horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are, is necessary to be told so the world will not miss the greater lessons of what happened. The first point of this short book is the author's motivation: he is compelled to tell this story to prevent the misrepresentation that many times happens when we try to reduce an epoch event to a single idea. The author, who suffered horribly as POW and witnessed unspeakable horrors, explains how his very surrival depended upon his forgiveness of the Japanese (and their Korean "converts") guards who perpertrated this inhumanity. The message of the book is that the Japanese culture was on a path of distruction that was impacted by the atom bomb in a way that was unforseen and that saved his life and the lives of millions: certainly over 100,000 prisioners of war in Indonesa as well as millions of Japense soldiers and people as well as many others. The book deals not just the character of the Japanese people in that era but has a broader lesson of what forces were at work to mold and then change a national characteristic which has allowed for the emergence of the present Japan The autor, a British army officer, opposed the executions of the Japanese War Criminals and became an advocate for peace and a staunch opponent of apartheid in his native South Africa.

Proc Tabulate by Example
Published in Paperback by SAS Publishing (16 March, 1999)
Average review score:

Superb Collection of TABULATE AdviceThis book is essential to those working with SAS in a reporting environment. Lauren steps you through PROC TAB (as it's called where I work) in a very logical manner. I really learned a lot about PROC TAB from this book! It's a life saver. I really like the inclusion of material on new features in PROC TAB introduced in version 7. In summary, this is the ultimate reference to PROC TAB.

A Rage of Maidens (A Caitlin Reece Mystery)
Published in Paperback by Naiad Pr (October, 1994)
Average review score:

Difficult read if one has not dealt with internalized rage.Ms Douglas is always a good read. This one was almost a primer in how to express, think about, deal with, rage. Made me think, made me sleep and then i went to the therapist. I am not sure about statistics, but in my life history, old and new, I've not known many women who dealt with anger well, much less outright rage. Therefore, I happen to like very much the subjects about which she chooses to write. I am looking forward to the next St Cyr novel.

Ralph Lauren: The Man Behind the Mistique
Published in Hardcover by Little Brown & Company (October, 1988)
Average review score:

Very Informative, Very StraightforwardThis book is very thorough, you have to want to know about Mr. Polo to read this tome. However, for an ardent fan it provides a unique insight into Ralph Lauren's upbringing, life in the Bronx, his rise to power through his neckties, and his ultimate success as America's premier fashion designer...a good read if you've got the time. Good luck trying to find a copy, though, I happened upon my copy in a local used Book Store.

Regency Romps
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (June, 1994)
Average review score:

Great storyFour in Hand was the first Stephanie Laurens story I had ever read. I absolutely loved it. The duet was worth buying just for her story alone. The interaction between the four sisters and there hoped for spouses was very well written. Their prospective husbands were completely head-over-heels in love, but didn't know how to handle it at all. A witty and delightful Regency romance to read (although I am not too sure that four debutantes would be unchaperoned as they were at the ending). I'm completely hooked on Stephanie Laurens. I also thoroughly enjoyed A Promise to Return by Gail Whitiker.

this book also teaches you how to ask God what you have to do before you do anything, for what God knows what is best for you.
It also teaches that we can't be anything with out the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, Our Savior.
